The Middle East conflict has hit household budgets in India, with prices of fuel, LPG cylinders, milk, CNG and several daily-use food items witnessing fresh hikes over the last two months. The latest increase came on Friday after petrol prices were raised by Rs 3 per litre, adding to inflation concerns among consumers.

Petrol prices in Delhi rose to nearly Rs 97.77 per litre, while diesel touched around Rs 90.67 per litre following the latest revision. The fuel price hike came days after Amul and Mother Dairy increased milk prices, making daily essentials more expensive for families across cities.

Along with fuel and dairy products, domestic LPG cylinders, commercial cylinders and smaller 5-kg LPG cylinders also became costlier after multiple revisions since March. CNG and PNG rates have gone up as well, increasing transport and household gas expenses.

What all became expensive in the last two months?

Several essential products and fuel-linked commodities have seen price hikes since March amid global energy market volatility linked to the Middle East situation.

Items that became costlier include:

  • Petrol
  • Diesel
  • Domestic LPG cylinders
  • Commercial LPG cylinders
  • 5-kg LPG cylinders
  • CNG
  • PNG
  • Milk
  • Industrial diesel
  • Premium petrol
  • Aviation turbine fuel
  • Gold import duty
  • Silver import duty

Kitchen and grocery essentials also saw fresh price increases in local markets, including: Groundnut, Red chilli, Coriander, Turmeric powder, Tea leaves, Refined oil, Mustard oil, Rice.

Which prices saw the sharpest jump?

Among the biggest increases reported in recent weeks were LPG cylinders and fuel-related products. Commercial LPG cylinders and smaller 5-kg cylinders recorded repeated price hikes across March, April and May, while aviation turbine fuel prices also climbed sharply.

The rise in fuel and energy-related costs has triggered concerns that transportation, food delivery and household expenses could remain under pressure if global crude oil prices continue to fluctuate.

The prices mentioned are based on rates in Delhi and Mumbai and may vary depending on city and company.
