Milk prices are set to rise from May 14 after leading dairy brands Amul and Mother Dairy announced fresh revisions across several popular variants.

The increase will apply to multiple categories, including full cream milk, toned milk, buffalo milk, cow milk and other premium offerings sold in different markets.

Amul, which is marketed by the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation, has raised prices by Rs 1 to Rs 2 per litre for most milk variants.

Under the revised rates, Amul Gold milk in the 1-litre pack will now retail at Rs 70 instead of Rs 68. Amul Taaza in the 1-litre category has also become costlier and will now be sold at Rs 57, up from Rs 55 earlier.

The company has revised prices for several other milk categories as part of the latest increase, which comes amid continued pressure on operational and procurement expenses in the dairy sector.

Mother Dairy has also announced a fresh hike across multiple milk products. According to the revised pricing circular, Mother Dairy Buffalo Milk in the 1-litre pack will now cost Rs 80, compared to the earlier price of Rs 75.

The 500 ml buffalo milk pack has also seen a price revision and will now retail at Rs 40, up from Rs 38.

The company’s Full Cream Milk 1-litre pack has been increased to Rs 72 from Rs 69, while the 500 ml pack will now be available at Rs 36 instead of Rs 35.

Prices of toned milk, double-toned milk, cow milk, and Pro Milk variants have also been revised upward.

Dairy companies have repeatedly attributed milk price hikes to rising costs of cattle feed, transportation, packaging material, and milk procurement.

Since 2022, India’s dairy industry has witnessed several rounds of retail price increases, with both cooperative and private players revising rates periodically depending on regional supply conditions and input costs.
