New Delhi: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has cancelled the admissions of 14 MBBS students for the academic year 2024–25 and directed the suspension of 26 more students found guilty of using unfair means in the NEET-UG 2024 exam.

The move follows findings by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is probing the alleged paper leak and widespread malpractice in the national medical entrance examination.

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is a highly competitive examination conducted across India for admission into medical colleges. As part of the ongoing probe, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has already debarred 42 candidates from appearing in NEET-UG for three years — 2024, 2025, and 2026 — and another nine candidates for the 2025 and 2026 sessions.

Furthermore, the candidature of 215 students who appeared for the 2024 exam has been put on hold pending a detailed investigation.

An official source stated that the NMC has issued directives to the concerned medical colleges to enforce immediate suspension of the 26 MBBS students found complicit in the scam.

The Commission reaffirmed its “zero-tolerance” stance on academic fraud and said it was committed to upholding the credibility and transparency of the medical education system.

This action comes just a day before NEET-UG 2025 is scheduled to take place on May 4.
