The IMD has issued a yellow alert for several Karnataka districts, warning of heavy rainfall through September 17. Districts under watch include Mysuru, Kodagu, Hassan, Shivamogga among others.

Bengaluru: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for several parts of Karnataka on Tuesday, September 16, warning of heavy rainfall in multiple districts.
The alert, which was first sounded on Monday, September 15, is likely to extend into Wednesday, September 17, officials said.
Districts including Chamarajanagar, Mysuru, Kodagu, Hassan, Shivamogga, Davangere, Chikkamagaluru, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada are expected to witness sustained downpours over the next two days.
The revived monsoon conditions are also set to intensify showers across the southern and coastal regions, bringing Bengaluru City, Bengaluru Rural, Chikkaballapur, Kolar, Ramanagara, Tumakuru, Bidar, Kalaburagi, and Vijayapura under alert.
Officials have cautioned residents about the risks of local flooding and traffic disruptions, particularly as many of these districts have already received over 20% above-normal rainfall earlier this month.
The fresh alert follows an intense spell of rain between September 8 and 10, with moderate showers continuing through September 14.
On average, Karnataka records about 167.9 mm of rainfall in September, but meteorologists say this year could see nearly double that amount. IMD has projected 109% above-normal rainfall for the month, suggesting that monsoon activity will remain strong well into the second half of September.
In Bengaluru, maximum temperatures have hovered around 27–28°C, while minimums remain near 19–20°C—conditions expected to persist as the fresh spell of rain begins.
