Kolkata: Following the disturbing rape and murder of the second-year medical student at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College, junior doctors are demanding that the CBI take strict action. They are calling for the death penalty for those responsible for the heinous crime.

Focus on comprehensive investigation

Dr. Rajdeep, a representative of the junior doctors, emphasised the need for a thorough investigation. "We want the CBI to take action against all those involved in this rape and murder. Capital punishment should be given to all the accused," he stated, underscoring the widespread anger and demands for justice within the medical community.

He urged the CBI to create a detailed charge sheet that includes all relevant names, even those that may not have been mentioned initially, "A strong charge sheet should be made against those whose names have not been included in the chargesheet."

Protests to continue

As November 9 approaches, marking 90 days since the tragic incident, Dr. Rajdeep stated that protests will persist until justice is achieved for the victim. "On November 9, we will exhibit all the major events that have taken place so far in this case. I want to say that we will not stop; the protest will continue," he asserted.

Previous hunger strike

Earlier, on October 22, junior doctors had staged a hunger strike to demand justice in the RG Kar Medical College case. This protest ended after a two-hour meeting with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at the state secretariat, Nabanna.
