Kolkata: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is working to recover deleted data from the mobile phones of Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of R.G. Kar Medical College, and Abhijit Mondal, the former SHO of Tala Police Station. This investigation is related to the horrific rape and murder of a junior doctor.
Sources say that investigators have found strong evidence suggesting that Ghosh and Mondal intentionally deleted messages exchanged on August 9, the day the victim's body was found in the seminar hall. This deletion appears to have been an attempt to erase their communication history.

The CBI is also trying to recover recordings of calls made between Ghosh and Mondal from the morning of August 9 until the victim's cremation that night. Both phones had an "auto-call recording mode" activated, meaning all their conversations were recorded. However, it seems that they deleted these recordings to destroy potential evidence.
Officials believe that recovering these recordings could help build a strong case against both individuals. Ghosh and Mondal are accused of misleading the initial investigation conducted by the Kolkata Police before the case was transferred to the CBI by the Calcutta High Court. They are also suspected of tampering with evidence after the body was discovered.
Last week, Mondal declined to undergo a polygraph test, prompting the CBI to seek a special court's assistance in Kolkata. Meanwhile, Ghosh initially consented to a polygraph test but later refused a narco-analysis test.
