New Delhi: Dense fog in Delhi and surrounding northern regions on Monday morning caused major flight disruptions at the capital’s airport, with over 60 flights cancelled and five others diverted, officials said.

Delhi airport operator DIAL reported on X that flight operations were still affected due to poor visibility. "Our on-ground officials are working closely with all stakeholders to assist passengers and provide necessary support across Terminals," DIAL said.

According to officials, more than 250 flights experienced delays. Delhi Airport, the country’s busiest, handles around 1,300 flight movements daily, making the disruptions important for travellers.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) have advised passengers to check their flight status before heading to the airport to avoid long waiting times.

“Dense fog conditions are prevailing across Delhi and several airports in Northern India, leading to reduced visibility and potential flight disruptions,” the ministry said.

Authorities said Air Traffic Control teams and airport staff are working together to minimise inconvenience and ensure safe operations amid the weather conditions.

Airlines issue travel advisories

Airlines operating in the region have also warned passengers of possible flight disruptions due to poor visibility.

IndiGo advised travellers to verify their flight status before leaving for the airport.

Similarly, Air India , sharing the list of cancelled flights, urged passengers to stay updated on their flight schedules through its official website.
