Bihar Deputy Chief Minister challenged former CM Rabri Devi on Friday to disclose the name of the minister’s son she claimed was involved in the NEET aspirant death case

Patna: Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Friday dared former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi to reveal the identity of the minister’s son she alleged was involved in the death of a NEET aspirant, assuring that the accused would be jailed “within 24 hours”.
Choudhary also accused the opposition of politicising the issue. In a video posted on X, he said, “If Rabri Devi claims that a minister’s son is involved, she should state his name. Failing to do so would suggest she is concealing evidence. We will ensure the person faces justice, regardless of political position or affiliations.”

The NEET aspirant, hailing from Jehanabad, was found unconscious in a girls’ hostel in Patna’s Chitragupt Nagar last month and died on January 11 at a private hospital after remaining in a coma. Her family alleged sexual assault and accused authorities of attempting a cover-up.
The Bihar government recently recommended a CBI investigation, following an inquiry by a Special Investigation Team (SIT). Speaking on Thursday, Rabri Devi had criticised the state administration for shielding the culprits, claiming that those responsible were “either ministers or their sons,” and said handing the case to the CBI was an attempt to hide key facts.
Political leaders across parties have faced scrutiny for their handling of the case, with opposition figures accusing the administration of attempting to cover up details involving influential individuals. The outcome of the CBI investigation is expected to be closely watched across the state, as the public demands transparency and justice for the victim.
