A major tragedy was narrowly avoided in Bengaluru’s Indiranagar after a speeding car, allegedly driven under the influence of alcohol

Bengaluru: The incident took place around 11.34 pm on January 8 on Indiranagar’s busy 100 Feet Road. A Skoda car travelling from 18th Main Road reportedly lost control while approaching a left turn, jumped the divider, and rammed into the wall of a Barbeque Nation restaurant.
CCTV footage from the area shows the vehicle speeding before crashing, moments after a group of pedestrians had stepped away from the spot.

Police identified the driver as 42-year-old Derrick Tony, who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. The car first struck a two-wheeler before hitting the restaurant wall, causing significant damage to the property. The two-wheeler rider sustained minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment, while the pedestrians escaped without harm.
No fatalities were reported in the incident. The vehicle has been seized, and a case has been registered at the Jeevan Bima Nagar Traffic Police Station. Police have launched a further investigation into the incident.
