Akasa Air has expanded its fleet with the delivery of its 36th and 37th Boeing 737 MAX 8-200 aircraft, marking strong growth in Q1 2026.

Akasa Air continues to expand rapidly with the delivery of its 36th and 37th aircraft, marking strong growth in the first quarter of 2026.
The airline said it has taken six aircraft deliveries so far this year, reflecting a 35% increase in its fleet compared to last year. This steady expansion highlights Akasa Air’s aggressive growth plans as it aims to become one of the world’s top 30 airlines by the end of the decade. The 36th aircraft, a Boeing 737 MAX 8-200, arrived in India on March 30, 2026. It completed a multi-leg delivery journey starting from Seattle in the United States, stopping in Iceland and Egypt, before landing at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru. The aircraft carries the registration number VT-YBJ.
The airline’s 37th aircraft, also a Boeing 737 MAX 8-200, has completed its handover process in Seattle and is expected to arrive in India in early April.
Both aircraft are designed as per Akasa Air’s requirements and are fitted with modern seats aimed at improving passenger comfort. These include better cushioning, a comfortable recline, and charging ports such as USB-A and USB-C, catering to today’s tech-savvy travellers.
Since starting operations in August 2022, Akasa Air has grown quickly and steadily. With 37 aircraft in its fleet, the airline is expanding both its domestic and international network while focusing on reliable service and customer satisfaction.
The airline has already placed a large order for 226 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, with 189 more expected to be delivered over the next six years. This strong order pipeline shows its long-term commitment to growth in India’s fast-expanding aviation market.
Akasa Air currently operates flights to 26 domestic and six international destinations. These include major cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, and Chennai, along with international routes to destinations like Doha, Jeddah, Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait City, and Phuket.
The airline’s fleet is powered by fuel-efficient LEAP-1B engines, which help reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions. The aircraft are also designed to be quieter, offering a better flying experience for passengers while supporting environmental goals.
With its young fleet, expanding network, and strong aircraft order book, Akasa Air is positioning itself as a key player in India’s aviation sector, aiming for sustained growth in the coming years.
