In a significant stride towards enhancing aviation safety, Minister of Civil Aviation, Ram Mohan Naidu, inaugurated the Air India Safety Promotion Centre at the airline's training facility in Gurugram. This initiative underscores the paramount importance of safety in air travel, emphasizing that even the slightest oversight can have dire consequences.​

The newly established ‘Safety Promotion Centre’ is designed to cultivate a safety-first culture within Air India. By utilizing immersive learning experiences drawn from real-world scenarios and past incidents, the centre aims to provide comprehensive training that goes beyond traditional classroom methods. This approach ensures that aviation professionals are better equipped to handle the complexities of modern air travel.​

Safety in aviation is not limited to pilots alone. Engineers, ground staff, and other personnel play crucial roles in ensuring that every flight operates smoothly and securely. A minor error, even as slight as 0.001%, can lead to catastrophic outcomes. Therefore, rigorous training and a deep-rooted safety culture are essential across all facets of the aviation industry.​

Commenting on the broader vision for Indian aviation, the Minister said, “As India expands its air connectivity across regions, safety remains our top priority. Air India, under the stewardship of the Tata Group and with the dedicated efforts of its committed staff carrying forward the legacy of JRD Tata, is well on its path to becoming one of the world’s best airlines.” 

He also reiterated the government’s continued partnership with the aviation sector “The Government of India extends its full support to our airlines in building a globally competitive, safe, and reliable aviation ecosystem.”

Air India's commitment to safety is further reflected in its comprehensive training infrastructure, which includes facilities like the Emergency Control Centre (ECC), Integrated Operations Control Centre (IOCC), Safety Lab, Grooming Centre, Security Lab, and under-construction Simulator Buildings. These facilities collectively contribute to shaping well-trained aviation professionals dedicated to maintaining the highest safety standards.​

Naidu's visit and the inauguration of the Safety Promotion Centre highlight the government's dedication to supporting initiatives that prioritize passenger safety.
