New Delhi: Air India has submitted a preliminary report to the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation regarding the Ahmedabad plane crash that occurred on June 12, 2025.

The crash of Flight AI171, which was en route from London to Ahmedabad, resulted in the deaths of 121 passengers, with one survivor identified as 23-year-old Vishwash Kumar Ramesh.

The report, compiled by Air India’s internal safety team in cooperation with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), offers a basic timeline of the incident and initial findings on the aircraft’s behaviour before impact. While the full cause of the crash has not yet been determined, the report is expected to aid the DGCA’s independent investigation and will feed into a more comprehensive final report to follow.

A senior aviation ministry official confirmed to reporters that the preliminary report includes black box recovery updates, communication logs, and aircraft maintenance records, and has been forwarded for review to the DGCA’s Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB).

Authorities emphasised that while the report marks a key procedural step, the investigation is still at an early stage. Further forensic analysis, international inputs, and witness testimonies are expected to inform the full crash report in the coming weeks.

Flight AI171, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, went down in bad weather during final descent. The incident marks India’s worst commercial aviation disaster since 2010.
