India’s Aaryan Shukla has achieved an extraordinary milestone in the world of mental math, setting six Guinness World Records in a single day during a competition in Dubai. Known for his rapid-fire calculation skills, the 14-year-old from Maharashtra has earned the title of a "human calculator," impressing not just math enthusiasts but also industrialist Anand Mahindra, who praised his achievements on social media.

During the intense competition, Aaryan set multiple records for mental calculations, including:

  • Fastest time to mentally add 100 four-digit numbers – 30.9 seconds
  • Fastest time to mentally add 200 four-digit numbers – 1 minute 9.68 seconds

Anand Mahindra’s reaction

Mahindra Group chairperson Anand Mahindra took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his amazement at Aaryan’s abilities. "Leaves you dazed & bewildered. Congratulations, Aaryan! I’ve seen some videos of kids using hand techniques for calculations, but I’m sure Aaryan has a special gift beyond the ordinary," he wrote, asking if there were any resources to learn the fundamentals of such mental math techniques.

What Aaryan says about his mental calculations

Speaking to Guinness World Records (GWR) Kids, Aaryan revealed that his calculations happen almost instinctively:
"A lot of things in mental calculations happen in a flash of a second, so I cannot say what happens inside my head. I just do it naturally. Basically, it’s so fast that you can’t think; you just need to do the calculations."

A young mind with a global impact

Aaryan’s journey began at the age of 8 when he first participated in an international competition, winning multiple medals and trophies. Today, he is not only a world record holder but also a founding board member of the Global Mental Calculators Association (GMCA), further cementing his place in the world of elite mental math geniuses.

With his record-breaking achievements, Aaryan Shukla has set a new benchmark for mental math and continues to inspire young minds worldwide.
