According to sources, both fugitives will be deported to India soon. Authorities revealed that more than two dozen major Indian gangsters are currently based abroad, where they continue to recruit young operatives and manage criminal syndicates remotely.
Investigations into the arrests have shed light on the duo’s network and methods of operation.
Garg, a native of Narayangarh in Haryana, has over ten criminal cases registered against him in India. He had fled to Georgia following his alleged involvement in the murder of a Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader in Gurugram. From overseas, he reportedly ran an extortion racket in collaboration with Kapil Sangwan, another gangster currently residing abroad.
In October, Delhi Police arrested four members of Sangwan’s gang in connection with a shooting incident at a builder’s residence and farmhouse in the national capital. Garg is also accused of recruiting youth from Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi, and other northern states to join his criminal operations.
Meanwhile, Bhanu Rana, originally from Karnal in Haryana, has been living in the US and is believed to have deep links to the Bishnoi crime network, which operates across Haryana, Punjab, and Delhi. He has a long-standing criminal record, with several serious cases registered against him in India.
Rana’s name had earlier surfaced during the probe into a grenade attack in Punjab. In June, the Special Task Force (STF) in Karnal arrested two individuals in possession of hand grenades, pistols, and ammunition, allegedly acting on Rana’s instructions.
