A Kollam native has been arrested in Bengaluru for the brutal murder of a Thrissur woman at a dog shelter.

Bengaluru: The police have arrested the suspect in the brutal murder of a Thrissur native who was working at a stray dog rehabilitation centre in Bengaluru. The accused, identified as Deepak Krishnan (41), a native of Kollam, was apprehended by the Sulibele Police.
Deepak was intercepted at Attibele, near the Tamil Nadu border, while travelling on a bus from Kanyakumari to Bengaluru. Following his arrest, he was produced before the Hoskote court and remanded to judicial custody.

The prosecution case states that the 42-year-old victim from Thrissur was working at a dog shelter managed by Deepak in Hoskote. She had joined the facility on April 17 and had subsequently helped recruit two other women for work there. It is alleged that Deepak attacked her with an iron rod, inflicting critical head injuries that left her unconscious.
Upon receiving information, the Sulibele Police arrived at the scene and shifted the victim to a local hospital in Bengaluru. Her husband later reached the city and transported her via a ventilator-supported ambulance to a hospital in Thrissur. She tragically passed away on Tuesday. Following a post-mortem, her body was released to her relatives on Thursday.
Investigations have revealed that Deepak Krishnan has a notorious criminal history. He is an accused in a multi-crore fraud case in Dubai, where he allegedly cheated several people, including Malayalis, before fleeing. He reportedly entered India using a fake passport to evade capture. In addition, he has been previously implicated in drug trafficking cases.
