Kalamassery police arrests two more accused persons, including a woman, in the Edappally lodge gang-rape case.

Kalamassery (Kerala): Police have nabbed two more persons in the incident where a woman was brought to a lodge in Edappally and allegedly gang raped. The accused woman and her accomplice who went into hiding following the brutal crime were arrested by the Kalamassery police. They have been identified as a woman hailing from Wayanad and a young man named Sanju.
On October 2, the primary accused, Sreeraj and Jith Martin, took the victim to the lodge under the pretext of an interview for a spa job, forcibly administered alcohol and drugs to her, and subjected her to gang rape. Police stated that on the following morning, the Wayanad native woman also subjected the victim to sexual assault, with Sanju acting as their accomplice. Sreeraj, the owner of the spa, and Jith Martin had been arrested earlier by the police.
On the evening of October 3, the victim escaped from the lodge, reached home and narrated the ordeal, following which her husband lodged a complaint at the Kalamassery Police Station. The victim is currently undergoing medical treatment following the incident. Her husband told the media that her mental state has been severely affected.
‘Will provide all support to survivor: Minister’
Minister V E Abdul Gafoor announced that all necessary support will be ensured for the rape survivor. The Minister spoke with the victim's husband over the phone to directly inquire about the current situation. He further clarified that all government assistance, including required medical treatment and legal aid, will be guaranteed to the survivor.
