India’s campaign at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 has suffered a major setback with off-spinner Shreyanka Patil ruled out of the tournament after sustaining an ankle injury during the win over the Netherlands. The incident occurred in the final over of the Powerplay when Patil twisted her ankle while attempting to stop the ball. Unable to continue, she was stretchered off after bowling only one delivery.
The ICC Event Technical Committee approved uncapped leg-spinner Prema Rawat as her replacement in India’s squad. Rawat earns her maiden senior India call-up after building strong credentials through the Women’s Premier League and India A performances.
