A rare and adorable newcomer is becoming the centre of attention at Indore’s Kamala Nehru Zoo. A blackbuck fawn born with a striking snow-white coat and distinctive pink eyes is attracting visitors from across the region and creating excitement among wildlife enthusiasts.

According to zoo authorities, the fawn’s unusual appearance is caused by albinism, a condition that prevents the production of melanin, the pigment responsible for skin, fur and eye colour.

The zoo in charge, Uttam Yadav, explained that while female blackbucks usually have a wheatish shade, rare genetic inheritance can sometimes produce a white offspring. He added that the white colour trait is linked to recessive genes and this is the first recorded birth of a white blackbuck fawn at Indore Zoo.
