As intense summer temperatures grip Jammu, authorities at Jambu Zoo are taking extra steps to protect their animal residents from the heat. Special cooling arrangements, including water ponds, sprinkler systems and temporary thatched shelters, have been introduced across enclosures to create a more comfortable environment.

Zoo officials said fresh water is supplied continuously through dedicated ponds, while jute-covered shade structures are sprayed regularly to lower temperatures naturally. Animals that are adapted to colder climates are receiving additional support through air-conditioned spaces.

The zoo has also adjusted feeding routines to help maintain hydration levels. Water-rich fruits, vegetables and fibre-rich food are being added to daily diets to support animal health during the hot weather.

Located in Nagrota on the outskirts of Jammu, Jambu Zoo houses a wide variety of species and is focusing on climate-responsive care as summer conditions intensify.
