Theni (Tamil Nadu): In a vibrant push to encourage electoral participation, members of the transgender community in Theni district have stepped forward to lead a voter awareness campaign ahead of the upcoming Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections.

The initiative, organised by the district administration, is part of a broader effort to achieve 100% voter turnout. The awareness programme was held in the Valli Nagar area under the Theni–Allinagaram municipality.

During the event, transgender participants took a public pledge urging citizens to exercise their democratic right and vote responsibly. They also distributed informational pamphlets to spread awareness about the importance of voting.

Adding energy and visibility to the campaign, the participants performed dances to election-themed songs, drawing the attention of local residents and effectively engaging the community.

District Revenue Officer Rajakumar was present at the programme, lending official support to the initiative.
