Vintage cars and tractors find new life in Kashmir's Wonder Garden
Srinagar's Wonder Garden transforms scrap cars, tractors and waste into colourful eco-friendly attractions, promoting reuse and sustainable living.
A rusting Ambassador car, an old tractor and discarded boats have found a remarkable new purpose at Srinagar's Wonder Garden. Developed by the Jammu and Kashmir Floriculture Department, the unique eco-friendly garden transforms scrap vehicles and waste materials into colourful installations and creative planters, promoting the message of sustainability through reuse.
Inspired by the "Reduce, Reuse and Recycle" principle, officials reused items that had been lying abandoned in government gardens. Department staff worked together as carpenters, painters and masons to create nearly 48 artistic displays without relying on outside resources.

The initiative also aims to tackle the growing problem of scrap waste by demonstrating how discarded materials can be creatively integrated into nature. Still under development, the Wonder Garden is expected to be completed within a year. Authorities hope it will become a major tourist attraction and inspire similar waste-to-wonder gardens across Jammu and Kashmir.
