Goa is set for a major transformation in its maritime and transport sectors as Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal announced plans to bring projects worth Rs 2,000 crore to the state. The investment aims to strengthen Goa’s maritime infrastructure, boost economic growth, and improve connectivity across the region.

Speaking after inaugurating the new Captain of Ports building alongside Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Sonowal also revealed plans to introduce a state-of-the-art water metro system in Goa. The proposed network is expected to offer faster and more convenient travel options for residents and visitors.

The minister highlighted that the newly inaugurated Captain of Ports building was inspired by ship architecture and designed to reflect Goa’s rich maritime heritage.

Sonowal said the initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of balancing development with heritage under the theme “Vikas Bhi, Virasat Bhi.”
