Delhi Capitals once again failed to secure a playoff berth
The Delhi Capitals' lengthy wait for their first championship was prolonged in 2026 when they failed to make it to the IPL playoffs despite having a star-studded team. Delhi ended the season with 12 points from 14 matches, winning and losing seven each, as inconsistency and poor decision-making proved costly. Their campaign was defined by several forgettable performances, including the failure to defend 264 against Punjab Kings at home, one of the worst defensive displays in IPL history. Another heavy setback came against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, where Delhi were bowled out for just 75.
A dramatic one-run defeat to Gujarat Titans, highlighted by David Miller refusing a single in the final over, also hurt their chances. Since 2008, Delhi have reached the playoffs only six times and remain one of the IPL’s biggest underachievers despite featuring several cricketing superstars over the years.
