India enjoyed a memorable start at the Australian Open Super 500 badminton tournament as PV Sindhu, Tanvi Sharma, Malvika Bansod, Isharani Baruah and Tanya Hemanth advanced to the women's singles round of 16. The biggest highlight came from 17-year-old Tanvi Sharma, who stunned world No. 11 and fifth seed Chiu Pin-Chian of Chinese Taipei in straight games, marking one of the biggest wins of her young career. Two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu also impressed, defeating Peru's Ines Lucia Castillo Salazar 21-13, 21-11 in just 32 minutes. Sindhu will next face fellow Indian Isharani Baruah, who battled past China's Han Qian Xi in three games.
