Kannada superstar Yash has lauded Rishab Shetty’s latest venture, Kantara Chapter 1, calling it “absolutely phenomenal cinema” and praising the cast and crew for their “conviction, resilience, and sheer devotion” in bringing the story to life.

In a heartfelt social media post, Yash congratulated Shetty, producer Vijay Kiragandur, Hombale Films, and other key contributors, including Rukmini, Gulshan Devaiah, Arvind Kashyap, AJ Aneesh, Jayaram, Pramod Shetty, and Prakash Thuminad. He also highlighted the late Rakesh Poojary’s contributions, noting that his light moments in the film “now stand as a fitting tribute to his talent.”

Released worldwide on October 2 in five languages, the Kantara Chapter 1 has already created a wave of excitement among audiences. The film, which combines traditional culture, mythological folklore, and breathtaking visuals, has been lauded not only by fans but also by critics, with many praising its pan-India appeal and cinematic excellence.

Kantara Chapter 1 Box Office Collection

Box office figures indicate a record-breaking opening for the film. According to Sacnilk, the movie earned Rs 61.85 crore net in India on its first day alone, with Kannada accounting for Rs 19.6 crore, Telugu Rs 13 crore, Hindi Rs 18.5 crore, Tamil Rs 5.5 crore, and Malayalam Rs 5.25 crore. Globally, the film grossed nearly Rs 89 crore on day one, and its India net collection has already crossed Rs 105.5 crore in just two days.

Set in pre-colonial Karnataka during the reign of the Kadambas from Banavasi, “Kantara: Chapter 1” depicts the conflict between the tribals of the Kantara forest and a tyrannical king.

Shetty, who directed, wrote and headlined the prequel, had earlier won the National Film Award for Best Actor as well as Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment for “Kantara”.
