‘Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1’ earns Rs 38.77 crore net on Day 2, taking two-day India total to Rs 98.77 crore, making it the third biggest opener of 2025.

'Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 ' earned around Rs 38.77 crore net on its second day across all languages, taking its two-day total in India to approximately Rs 98.77 crore, as per Sacnilk reports. The film recorded a massive Rs 60 crore opening day collection, making it the third biggest opener of 2025, driven by holiday releases and the popularity of the original film.
However, the North American response was muted, with premiere shows grossing just over USD 500,000 and Day 1 collections falling to USD 255,000. Advance bookings for Day 2 are nearing USD 200,000, indicating the film could cross the USD 1 million mark, though the break-even target remains USD 7.5 million.
When director Rishab Shetty began working on 'Kantara' in 2021-22, few could have anticipated its global impact and its role in elevating Kannada cinema. The original film went on to gross over Rs 310 crore in India alone.
The sequel’s release, timed with the Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra holidays, capitalised on the first film’s popularity. According to Sacnilk, the Day 1 collection of Rs 60 crore places it third among 2025’s biggest openers, behind Rajinikanth and Lokesh Kanagaraj’s 'Coolie' (Rs 65 crore) and Pawan Kalyan’s 'They Call Him OG' (Rs 63.75 crore). Other notable releases include Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s 'War 2' (Rs 52 crore) and Ram Charan and Shankar’s 'Game Changer' (Rs 51 crore).
Collections reflect multiple languages, including Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada.
