Industry sources suggest Vijay's Jana Nayagan could finally hit theatres in July as its pending censor clearance is reportedly close to being resolved

For months, the biggest question among Vijay fans has been, "When will Jana Nayagan release?"
The much-anticipated Vijay starrer, directed by H Vinoth, is now being considered for a theatrical release in July, provided the remaining certification process is completed.
Sources within the industry suggest that the issue surrounding the film's certification by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) is expected to be resolved soon.
With the matter reportedly nearing a conclusion, the production team is said to be exploring the possibility of bringing ‘Jana Nayagan’ to cinemas in July itself.
As of now, however, there has been no official confirmation from the makers.
‘Jana Nayagan’ has attracted significant attention ever since it was announced, largely because it marks Vijay's final film as an actor before dedicating himself to politics full-time.
The film was initially scheduled to arrive in theatres during the Pongal festival in January this year. However, those plans changed after the project ran into delays during the certification process.
The delay began after Jana Nayagan was submitted to the Censor Board for certification in December last year. Instead of being cleared immediately, the film was referred to a Revising Committee under Rule 24 of the Cinematograph (Certification) Rules. Since then, the film has remained without certification, preventing its theatrical release.
When the January release had to be called off, production house KVN Productions shared a statement explaining the decision.
Cast and crew
Directed by H Vinoth, ‘Jana Nayagan’ also stars Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, Prakash Raj and Gautham Vasudev Menon in prominent roles.
