
Amidst a series of re-releases, Bollywood fantasy horror film 'Tumbbad' has made headlines by becoming the highest-grossing film from India upon its re-release. Reports indicate that 'Tumbbad' has surpassed the previous record held by Vijay’s film 'Ghilli.'
The film achieved this record on its 12th day of re-release, reportedly earning Rs 24.67 crore to date. Before 'Ghilli,' the Hollywood film 'Titanic' held the record with a collection of Rs 18 crore in India during its re-release. Following 'Titanic,' 'Sholay' is the next highest earner, with Rs 13 crore.
'Tumbbad' has achieved a higher revenue during its second release compared to its original debut. Initially released in 2018, the film was re-released on September 13, 2024, six years later. During its first run, it earned Rs 12.5 crore.
The producers have also announced a sequel to the film, with plans for a global release. Directed by Rahi Anil Barve, 'Tumbbad' received critical acclaim and features notable performances from Soham Shah and Jyoti Malshe, among others.

The other succesful re-releases include 'Laila Majnu' starring Tripti Dimri and Avinash Tiwary, the epic romantic drama ‘Veer-Zara’ and ‘Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein’ directed by the well-known Gautham Vasudev Menon.
