
Paris: India is celebrating as Neeraj Chopra secured a silver medal in the men’s javelin final at the Paris Olympics. Social media platforms, including Instagram and X, have been flooded with congratulatory messages for Neeraj following his impressive performance. Members of the Indian film industry also joined in sending their best wishes.
Taking to Instagram Story, actor Vicky Kaushal wrote, "Season best performance. You always make us proud brother Neeraj Chopra."

Actor Rakul Preet Singh also shared her congratulations with Neeraj, "Woohoo! Neeraj, you have done it again! Congratulations on securing your second olympic medal! India beams with pride," Rakul wrote on Instagram.
Chopra’s best throw was 89.45 metres, achieved on his second attempt. However, he faced difficulties with four consecutive foul throws, which prevented him from clinching the gold. His first and third attempts were disqualified due to red flags, and his final three attempts were also fouls.
Despite a strong qualification round throw of 89.34 metres, Chopra couldn’t match this in the final. His attempts were marred by pressure, with his fifth and sixth throws both disqualified for crossing the line.
Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem won gold with a throw of 92.97 metres, breaking the previous Olympic record set by Denmark’s Andreas Thorkildsen in Beijing 2008.
After the match, Neeraj Chopra said, "We all feel happy whenever we win a medal for the country. It's time to improve the game now. We will sit and discuss and enhance our performance."
Chopra acknowledged the tough competition, stating that every athlete has their day and expressed optimism about India’s future Olympic prospects. So far, the Indian team in Paris has won five medals.
