Mallika Sukumaran, mother of actor-director Prithviraj, strongly responded to the numerous accusations directed at her son following the release of Empuraan.
Speaking to Mathrubhumi Channel, she criticised director Major Ravi and dismissed his post alleging that Mohanlal had not seen the entire film and other accusations that portrayed Prithviraj in a negative light.
Mallika Sukumaran asserted that her son is being unfairly targeted. She reaffirmed that Prithviraj had not cheated anyone and had meticulously narrated every scene of Empuraan to all those involved, including Mohanlal.
She firmly stated that her son has no involvement in any anti-national activities.
Meanwhile, The Organiser, a RSS-linked magazine, continues its harsh criticism of Prithviraj, accusing him of being anti-national, particularly referencing his support for the anti-CAA protests and the Lakshadweep issue. This criticism comes from the Sangh Parivar and its affiliated organisations.
In the phone-in conversation, Mallika Sukumaran also thanked actor Mammootty for his words of support conveyed to her and her family during this time of distress. She warned those instigating conspiracies against her family not to take her and her family lightly and not to mistake them for being weak and alone.
Mallika Sukumaran urged the youth across political organisations to maintain decorum and dignity.
In the conversation, Prithviraj’s mother also recalled how a string of controversies had erupted following the release of the 1994 Suresh Gopi starrer Commissioner, directed by Shaji Kailas, suggesting that such controversies surrounding movies are not a new phenomenon.
