In the interview, the actor also spoke about the underwhelming response to Suriya’s ‘Kanguva’, in which he also played a part, pointing fingers at certain issues with the script.

Bobby Deol is no stranger to the Indian film industry. Upholding a rich cinematic legacy, the actor has delivered several nonchalant performances over the years, with the most recent standout being his role as Abrar Haque — the menacing villain in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal, which also starred Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, and Triptii Dimri in pivotal roles.
Abrar's entry song in the film, Jamal Kudu, became an instant sensation, taking the nation by storm — its ripples are yet to subside. Following the phenomenal reception of his role in Animal, Bobby’s career trajectory saw a dramatic shift, with him continuing to portray wild, menacing antagonists across multiple languages, establishing himself as a true pan-Indian villain. While some of these projects found success and others faded into obscurity, Bobby as a performer continues to captivate and remain relevant.
However, what has recently captured the internet’s attention are Bobby’s revelations about none other than Thalapathy Vijay. The actor shared his experience working with the Tamil superstar in the upcoming political action drama Jana Nayagan, directed by H. Vinoth and tentatively slated for a Pongal 2026 release. In an interview with Faridoon Shahryar, Bobby revealed that the film will likely be Vijay's final cinematic project before his complete transition into politics. He described Vijay as an incredibly popular figure, noting that much of the film had to be shot in studios to avoid the large crowds that typically gather around the actor during outdoor shoots.
In the same conversation, Bobby also reflected on his previous ventures in South Indian cinema, recalling his collaborations with stars like Nandamuri Balakrishna and Suriya. He praised Balakrishna — known as the “star of the masses” — for his grounded nature and acknowledged the South’s tradition of such honorific titles. Speaking about Kanguva, his film with Suriya, Bobby admitted it fell short of expectations but attributed this to script issues rather than the performances. He expressed great admiration for Suriya and a keen interest in working with him again.
Jana Nayagan, touted as Vijay’s “temporary swansong” to Tamil cinema before his political plunge, rides on high expectations. Alongside Vijay and Bobby Deol, the film also features popular names like Pooja Hegde, Prakash Raj, Gautham Vasudev Menon, and Mamitha Baiju.
Expectations are soaring, and fans are eagerly awaiting what is presumed to be Thalapathy Vijay’s 'last dance' on the big screen. (With inputs from Agencies)
