The speculation started after a series of cryptic posts following the trailer launch on Saturday

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal may be making a surprise cameo in his son Pranav Mohanlal’s upcoming psychological horror film, ‘Dies Irae’, sparking a wave of excitement on social media.
The speculation started after a series of cryptic posts following the trailer launch on Saturday. Both Pranav and director Rahul Sadasivan shared a stylised Dies Irae-themed photo with red lighting across their faces.
Soon after, Mohanlal changed his Instagram display picture to a moody, dimly lit photo featuring a similar red hue, fueling rumours that he might appear in the movie alongside his son.
‘Dies Irae’, directed by Rahul Sadasivan, who helmed the critically acclaimed Malayalam horror film ‘Bramayugam’, marks a high-profile project in the horror-thriller genre.
The film features Pranav Mohanlal in the lead and has already captured attention for its spine-chilling trailer and the buzz surrounding Mohanlal’s possible cameo.
The film went on floors in the last week of March this year at Vadakara in Calicut, with the makers initially planning a 40-day shooting schedule. However, the production wrapped up ahead of schedule by April.
Key technical members from Bramayugam have returned for ‘Dies Irae’. Shehnad Jalal, lauded for his cinematography in Bramayugam, handles the camera, while Jothish Shankar is the art director, and Shafique Mohammed Ali, also from Bramayugam, is editing the film.
Rahul Sadasivan’s previous film, Bramayugam, was a period horror set in Kerala’s dark ages, featuring Mammootty, Sidharth Bharathan, Arjun Ashokan, and Amalda Liz. Its dialogues were written by renowned Malayalam novelist TD Ramakrishnan, best known for Francis Itty Cora.
