Filmmaker Bhadran has heaped praise on Rahul Sadasivan’s film Dies Irae and its lead actor Pranav Mohanlal. In a Facebook post, Bhadran mentioned director Rahul Sadasivan, actor Pranav, and music composer Christo Xavier, praising their work. He said that when sincere content meets a strong screenplay, it keeps viewers — himself included — on the edge of their seats. Watching Pranav’s performance, he recalled the legendary Hollywood actor Al Pacino.

“When I watched Rahul Sadasivan’s Bhoothakaalam, I knew it was an exceptional film. His next, Bhramayugam, was equally commendable. And now, for some reason, I couldn’t wait to see Dies Irae. Though all these films belong to similar genres, the narratives differ. With a genuine theme supported by a tight script, viewers were completely engrossed — myself included. Well done, Rahul,” Bhadran wrote.

“I saw a new facet of Pranav’s acting throughout the film. It reminded me of Al Pacino, who amazed Hollywood in the ’80s and ’90s. At such a young age, to realise that a character doesn’t need exaggerated heroics or loud expressions, but rather nuanced emotional performance — and to stay true to that from start to finish — is remarkable. Hey Pranav, you are Lal’s sweet boy!” he added.

Bhadran also praised the film’s technical brilliance: “The crisp editing, the silences, the sound design, and the brilliant background score — everything blended seamlessly. My congratulations to Christo Xavier. The sky is the limit for you.”

Director Rahul Sadasivan responded under Bhadran’s post with a simple note of gratitude: “Thank you, sir.”
