Chennai: When Palaniswami from Coimbatore made his debut in cinema, few expected him to become a celebrated actor or a multiple award winner. Today, we know him by a different name — Sivakumar, a revered figure in Tamil cinema and the proud father of two popular actors, Suriya and Karthi. But beyond the limelight of his sons, Sivakumar also has a daughter — Brindha — who has quietly carved her own niche in the film industry, albeit away from the camera.

Unlike her brothers, Brindha chose not to pursue a career in acting. Instead, she found her calling behind the scenes — first as a playback singer and later as a dubbing artist. Her talent in music was evident from her school days, but she initially stepped away from cinema to focus on her studies, turning down early opportunities.

Brindha made her playback singing debut in 2018 with the Tamil film Mr. Chandramouli. She went on to sing in Raatchasi, where the melodic track Nee En Nanbanae gained particular popularity. Her vocals have since been featured in films like Jackpot, Ponmagal Vandhal, and O2, showcasing her versatility and artistic range.

In 2022, she took on a notable role as a dubbing artist in the Tamil version of Bollywood blockbuster Brahmāstra, produced by Karan Johar and directed by Ayan Mukerji. The film, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, was one of the year’s biggest hits. Brindha lent her voice to Alia Bhatt in the Tamil dub, adding another feather to her cap and further demonstrating her contribution to cinema in a quieter, but no less significant, capacity.

Brindha Sivakumar may not occupy centre stage, but her growing portfolio proves that talent runs deep in the family — both in front of and behind the screen.
