Thiruvananthapuram: Lakshmi Pushpa, a native of Pothencode in Andoorkonam here, has won an award for her short film “Kombal” at the monthly Cannes World Film Festival in October. As a monthly winner, her film has been automatically entered into Cannes World Film Festival - Remember the Future's Annual Competition.
Lakshmi Pushpa is working as the Web and New media research assistant at the Public Relations Department of the Government of Kerala. The films that procure recognition at this event are eligible for direct entry at the renowned Cannes World Film Festival - Remember the Future which is not to be confused with the Festival de Cannes.
To date, the short film “Kombal” has received recognition at several film festivals. The film traverses through the daily mental and physical life situations of a woman. Jolly Chirayath is the heroine of the movie. The lead characters are played by Baiju Netto and Vishnu Sanal Kumar.
“It feels good to know the film is appreciated at an international stage like Cannes,” remarked Lakshmi.
The film bagged the award for the best heroine at Museum Talkies International Film Festival and Madras Independent Film Festival. At the latter festival, the film also received awards for best screenplay and direction.
