Bison, the sports drama directed by Mari Selvaraj and starring Dhruv Vikram, Anupama Parameswaran, Rajisha Vijayan, Lal, and Pasupathy, is set to hit theatres worldwide on October 17 as a Diwali release—clashing with Dude, which stars Pradeep Ranganathan and Mamitha Baiju in the lead roles.

However, Dhruv, the lead in Bison, found himself at the center of controversy for making a rather overboard statement.

Yes, what you heard is right. During the promotions, Dhruv, son of National Award-winning Kollywood superstar ‘Chiyaan’ Vikram, said,

"So far, I’ve acted in two films. Even if you haven’t seen them, it’s okay. But you must watch this one, because I consider it my ‘first’ film."

Notably, Dhruv’s first two films (Adithya Varma and Mahaan) were helmed by high-profile directors Gireesaaya and Karthik Subbaraj, respectively. His comment sparked heated discussions on social media platforms.

Now, the Bison actor has responded to his ‘impulsive’ remarks. Reflecting on the reaction to his comment, Dhruv explained,

"I think it came from my over-enthusiasm. But it’s also because the experience of being part of Mari Selvaraj's Bison transformed me both as an actor and as a person. I completely forgot who I was before Bison."

He emphasized that setting aside Adithya Varma and Mahaan was genuine and not meant to upset anyone. "I was fully immersed in the mindset required for Bison. I understand how it could have been misinterpreted."

Dhruv also revealed that he had taken the initiative to clarify his statement with Karthik Subbaraj, director of Mahaan:

"I did discuss it with him and shared the same perspective. I told him that working on Mahaan felt like an experience from a past life, whereas Bison made me feel reborn," says the actor, who is now eagerly awaiting the audience’s reaction to his transformation in Bison.

With Bison, Dude, and Diesel—starring Harish Kalyan—all set to lock horns at the box office this Diwali, cash registers are expected to keep ringing. (With inputs from Agencies)
