Venkat Prabhu's latest film, The Greatest Of All Time (GOAT), starring Vijay in the lead role, has been eagerly awaited by fans. The film marks Vijay's first release after his foray into politics, following his announcement to retire from acting after completing two more films. Upon the completion of those projects, Vijay plans to fully immerse himself in political work.

GOAT hit theatres on September 5 and had an impressive opening, grossing around Rs 60 crore across India on its release day. Although there was a sharp drop in collections on Friday, the weekend holidays brought a resurgence in revenue, pushing the film into the Rs 100 crore club within a short period. Currently, GOAT is progressing towards surpassing Rs 400 crore in total earnings.

Mixed reviews outside Tamil Nadu

While the film has received strong reviews in Tamil Nadu, responses have been mixed in other states. Director Venkat Prabhu believes this is due to the film's reference to the IPL team Chennai Super Kings (CSK). According to Prabhu, fans of rival teams like Mumbai Indians (MI) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) were not pleased with the mention of CSK. "Chennai Super Kings is in my blood. I couldn’t do anything about it," Prabhu said, addressing the reactions.

Plans for a sequel

In exciting news for fans, reports suggest that a sequel to GOAT is currently in talks. The first film ended with a clear opening for a sequel, which will reportedly be titled GOAT vs. OG. Rumours are also swirling that Ajith may replace Vijay in the second instalment.
