The makers of 'GDN', director Krishnakumar Ramakumar's upcoming biographical drama starring R Madhavan, have unveiled the film's trailer. Packed with drama, emotion and political conflict, the trailer offers a first glimpse into the extraordinary life of legendary inventor, industrialist, agriculturist and philanthropist GD Naidu, often remembered as the "Edison of India".

The trailer was launched on Saturday at a special event held at Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore, the hometown of GD Naidu. Members of the film's cast and crew attended the launch, along with Naidu's family.

The trailer opens with a striking claim that GD Naidu had gone mad in his later years after blowing up one of his own buildings. It then shifts to a British officer asking, "Who the hell is this fakir?", setting the stage for the introduction of Madhavan's character.

As the story unfolds, the trailer shows GD Naidu building a successful transport business through UMS while also establishing a polytechnic engineering college. His growing success, however, appears to attract powerful enemies.

Actor Jayaram is seen portraying a ruthless and influential figure who questions G D Naidu's financial dealings.

He says, "GDN charges huge amounts as fees but does he find paying tax a bitter pill to swallow?"

The trailer also suggests that although British officials acknowledge GD Naidu's accounts are legally sound, they are determined to tarnish his reputation.

In one scene, Vinay Rai's character is heard telling a British official, "Soil his books."

The conflict intensifies as authorities allegedly fabricate charges to stop GD Naidu's progress. Police raid his premises after claims emerge that he has built machines capable of printing counterfeit currency.

As the trailer progresses, it becomes clear that GD Naidu is portrayed as a law-abiding taxpayer who only begins questioning the government when he believes he is being unfairly taxed.

The British administration then accuses him of treason, alleging that his business dealings with the Nazis are against the interests of the Crown.

Jayaram's character also threatens one of GD Naidu's supporters, warning that the inventor will never again enjoy a peaceful night's sleep.

The trailer ends with Aditi Balan's character delivering a thought-provoking line.

She says, "If the story of a hunt is written by the lion without the hunter in it, then the meaning of courage itself will change."

The closing moments leave the impression that GDN aims to tell the untold story of one of India's greatest innovators, whose contributions have often not received the recognition they deserve.
