Bhavana Studios is gearing up for its next Malayalam film, ‘Karate Chandran’, starring Fahadh Faasil, with filming officially commencing in Kottayam following the film’s puja and switch-on ceremony. The upcoming project marks the independent directorial debut of Roy, a longtime collaborator of filmmaker Dileesh Pothan.

Produced by Dileesh Pothan, Fahadh Faasil and Syam Pushkaran under the banner of Bhavana Studios, the film is planned as an extensive 140-day shoot across Kottayam and its neighbouring areas.

Roy has worked as a co-director alongside Dileesh Pothan since ‘Maheshinte Prathikaaram’. With ‘Karate Chandran’, he steps into the director’s chair for an independent feature, bringing together a team of established names from Malayalam cinema.

The screenplay and dialogues are jointly written by S. Hareesh and Vinoy Thomas, who have previously collaborated on films such as Lijo Jose Pellissery's ‘Jallikattu’ and ‘Churuli’.

Apart from Fahadh Faasil, the ensemble cast includes Vijayaraghavan, Johny Antony, Sudheesh, Renji Panicker, Gokul Suresh, Suresh Krishna, Spadikam George, Manohari Joy, Jaya Kurup and Manjushree Nair.

‘Karate Chandran’ brings together a familiar creative team with a strong track record in Malayalam cinema. Bhavana Studios, known for backing several notable films, is producing the project, adding to the anticipation surrounding the upcoming release.
