Filmmaker Rahul Sadasivan is basking in the success of Pranav Mohanlal starrer Dies Irae, which hit theatres on Friday.

In an interview with Filmibeat, the Bramayugam director responded to rumours that his next project may draw inspiration from Odiyan folklore, following discussions on social media.

“I don’t know. Maybe, maybe not... It's too early to reveal anything. It is an interesting idea. Have seen posts on online media, in Reddit,” he said.

He added that although he has stories set in Palakkad, it is still too early to share any details. Interestingly, a Malayalam film titled Odiyan, starring veteran actor Mohanlal and directed by V.A. Shrikumar Menon, had earlier explored a similar theme. In Kerala folklore, Odiyans are men believed to possess shapeshifting abilities, allowing them to take on animal forms.

“I have stories focused on Palakkad, but it would be too early to reveal anything related to it,” he added.

At the same time, Sadasivan dismissed reports claiming he is working on a big-budget science fiction film with Mohanlal. He clarified that no such project has been planned, contrary to earlier social media reports suggesting a collaboration with the veteran actor.

Sadasivan's previous work, Bramayugam, was a critically acclaimed success. The story of the film primarily revolved around three male characters and was shot in black and white. Apart from Mammootty, 'Bramayugam' also starred Sidharth Bharathan, Arjun Ashokan and Amalda Liz.
