Mohanlal's directorial debut Barroz which was released on Christmas Day has been warmly received by the audience. In an exclusive interview with Baradwaj Rangan, the actor recently shared his experience working on the film, as well as his journey as an actor throughout his career.

In the interview, Mohanlal spoke about how he has been blessed with great characters and the ability to portray them effectively. “I never prepare for acting. The totality of it is in my mind, of course. However, I always believe that an unknown energy is helping me,” said Mohanlal. He also said that he never gives strain to his thought process.

Mohanlal also recalled his experience of performing in the movie Vanaprastham, saying, “When we were doing Vanaprastham, all the Kathakali masters were cast in the movie as my relatives. However, I was the only Kathakali performing artist in the movie. I see it all as a blessing. Nobody can do these things otherwise. Even Amitabh Bachchan Sir asked me ‘Mohanlal, how did you do Kathakali?’ to which I replied, ‘Sir, I don’t know!’” said Mohanlal.

Vanaprastham: The Last Dance is a 1999 Indo-French psychological drama set in the Malayalam language, directed by Shaji N Karun. Produced by Pierre Assouline and co-produced by Mohanlal, the film’s screenplay was crafted by Karun and Raghunath Paleri, who also wrote the dialogues, based on a story by Assouline.

Mohanlal stars in the leading role, supported by a talented cast including Suhasini Maniratnam, Mattannur Sankarankutty Marar, Kalamandalam Gopi, Venmani Haridas and Kukku Parameshwaran. The film's music was composed by Zakir Hussain.

Barroz, inspired by the novel by Jijo Punnoose – who also directed India’s first 3D film, My Dear Kuttichathan – has delivered an extraordinary cinematic experience. The film features an impressive cast, including Guru Somasundaram, known for his outstanding role in Minnal Murali, besides Tuhin Menon and Cesar Laurent, who play pivotal roles alongside Mohanlal. The movie also brings together a blend of both nationally and internationally acclaimed actors.

Produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the Aashirvad Cinemas banner, Barroz has captivated audiences with its epic storytelling and high-quality production values.
