Re-releases have become a big trend in Tamil cinema, and Vijay’s films seem to be leading the pack. After the roaring success of Ghilli’s re-release last year, another fan-favourite is all set to make a comeback on the big screen. This time it’s ‘Kushi’, one of the most popular romantic comedies from the early 2000s.

‘Kushi’, directed and written by S J Suryah, first released in 2000 under producer AM Rathnam’s Sri Surya Movies banner. Now, 25 years later, the film is making a comeback to the big screen. The re-release is scheduled for September 25.

Sakthi Film Factory is distributing the film’s re-release. They were also behind Ghilli’s re-release, which went on to become hugely profitable for its producer. With that success in mind, there’s plenty of expectation around Kushi’s return.

The film features Vijay and Jyothika as Siva and Jenny, two college students whose arguments and clashes slowly turn into love. Their chemistry, paired with a light-hearted story, made ‘Kushi’ one of the best-loved romantic comedies of its time.

Deva’s music for the film was a massive hit, with songs that remain fan favourites even today. The cast also included Vijayakumar, Shilpa Shetty, Mumtaj, Rajan P. Dev, Jaya Murali, Basanth Ravi, Manish Borundia, SJ Suryah, Sridhar, Japan Kumar and more.
