Rajasthan-based actor and model Harshil Kalia, known for her role in the web series ‘Crime Next Door’, died in a horrific road accident in Jaipur late Monday night.

The 30-year-old actor was returning home from work when her car crashed into a divider and overturned on Shipra Path Road.

Police said the accident occurred around 11.30 pm after Kalia’s vehicle went out of control.

The impact was so severe that the car flipped onto its side. CCTV footage from the area has reportedly captured the chilling moment, showing the vehicle veering off, hitting the divider, and overturning within seconds.

Locals attempt rescue, actor declared dead

Residents in the vicinity rushed to the spot after hearing the crash. Eyewitnesses said the car was badly damaged and lying on its side. Locals helped pull Kalia out of the wreckage and rushed her to a nearby private hospital.

However, doctors declared her dead on arrival. She had suffered severe head injuries in the crash, which proved fatal.

Probe underway, CCTV footage under scanner

Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.

Officials are examining whether overspeeding, mechanical failure, or involvement of another vehicle may have contributed to the crash.

CCTV visuals are now a key part of the investigation, helping authorities piece together the sequence of events.

A post-mortem examination has been conducted, and the body has been handed over to her family.

Nation mourns two lives lost

Kalia’s sudden demise has left Rajasthan’s entertainment industry in shock. Apart from ‘Crime Next Door’, she had worked as a model, appeared in several Rajasthani music videos, and also worked as a news anchor.

Her death comes on a sombre day when the country is also mourning Harish Rana, the first person in India to be allowed passive euthanasia.

Rana passed away on Tuesday at AIIMS-Delhi after spending more than 13 years in a coma. His mortal remains were brought to the Green Park Cremation Ground in Delhi for last rites.

The two tragedies, one sudden and violent, the other prolonged and deeply debated, have together cast a shadow, sparking conversations around life, loss, and the fragility of human existence.
