The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has introduced the Bharat Bhutan Mystic Mountain Tour, a unique 13-night and 14-day rail-cum-road travel package. This journey begins and ends at Delhi Safdarjung station, taking travellers through scenic and culturally rich destinations across India’s northeast and Bhutan.

Which places are included in the itinerary?

The tour covers key locations including Guwahati, Shillong, Cherrapunji, Thimphu, Punakha, and Paro. Highlights feature visits to famous spots like the Kamakhya temple and Brahmaputra cruise in Guwahati; waterfalls such as Seven Sisters and Elephant Falls in Cherrapunji; and cultural sites including the Don Bosco Museum and Wards Lake in Shillong. In Bhutan, travellers explore the majestic Buddha Point, Punakha Dzong, Tiger Nest Monastery base camp, and the Paro Dzong among others.

How does the train journey fit into the tour?

The rail portion runs between Delhi Safdarjung, Guwahati, and Hasimara, with boarding options at Delhi Safdarjung, Ghaziabad, Aligarh, Tundla Junction, Kanpur, Lucknow, and Varanasi. De-boarding stations follow the reverse order. Seating arrangements will be confirmed three days before departure, with every two passengers guaranteed a lower berth.

What travel classes and facilities are offered?

There are 150 seats across four categories: Superior AC I (Coupe and Cabin), Deluxe AC II tier, and Comfort AC III tier. All classes include stays in air-conditioned three-star or similar hotels, coach transportation, and meal services onboard the train (except AC III tier, where meals are served on the berth). The train also features a restaurant coach for AC I and AC II tier passengers.

When does the tour depart and what are the prices?

The tour is scheduled to depart on 28 June 2025. Prices vary by class and occupancy:

Superior AC I (Cabin) costs from ₹1,44,892 for double sharing.

Deluxe AC II tier starts at ₹1,29,495 for double sharing.

Comfort AC III tier begins at ₹1,18,965 for double sharing.

Single occupancy is higher, and child fares apply for ages 5-11.

Are there any special conditions or requirements?

Indian Railways has already applied a 33% concession on fares as part of the Bharat Gaurav Train scheme to promote rail tourism. Passengers must submit their PAN card after booking. For Bhutan immigration, a valid passport with at least six months’ validity or an original voter ID with hologram is required, along with two recent passport-sized photos on a white background.
