Switching from an iPhone to an Android device no longer means starting over. With Google's enhanced migration experience in Android 17, users can wirelessly transfer photos, contacts, messages, passwords, apps and other data without needing to install a separate app on supported devices. For phones that do not yet support the new feature, users can continue using the traditional transfer method with a cable or the Android Switch tool.

Here's a step-by-step guide to help you shift your data from iPhone to Android.
Method 1: Wireless transfer (Android 17-supported devices)

  • Charge and turn on both your iPhone and Android phone.
  • On your Android phone, select "Set up with an iPhone."
  • Scan the QR code displayed on the Android phone using your iPhone.
  • Choose the data you want to transfer.
  • Keep both phones close until the transfer is complete.
  • Transfer your eSIM if prompted (availability depends on your carrier and device).
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to transfer your WhatsApp chats.

Method 2: Cable or Android Switch

  • Charge and turn on both devices.
  • Choose "Set up using an iPhone" on your Android phone.
  • Sign in to your Google Account.
  • Connect both phones using a cable when prompted.
  • Select the data you want to transfer.
  • Wait until the transfer is complete.
  • Turn off iMessage on your iPhone:
  • Go to Settings > Apps > Messages.
  • Switch iMessage off.
