Recording a Zoom meeting allows you to save video, audio, and shared content for future reference. Follow these steps to start, pause, stop, and manage recordings.

- Start or join a Zoom meeting as the host.
- In the meeting controls toolbar, click Record.
- If prompted, select Record on this Computer.
- A recording indicator will appear in the top-left corner, letting participants know the meeting is being recorded.
- To see who is recording, click Participants.
Note: Dial-in participants may hear an announcement that the meeting is being recorded.
Steps to pause or stop recording:
- During the meeting, click Pause Recording to stop recording temporarily.
- Click Resume Recording when you're ready to continue.
- To end recording completely, click Stop Recording.
Note: If a participant stops the recording and restarts it, a new video file will be created for the next recording segment. If a participant pauses the recording and starts it again, Zoom will record to the same video file for the recording segment.
Steps to access your recording:
- End the Zoom meeting.
- Zoom will automatically convert the recording.
- Once conversion is complete, the folder containing your recording files will open automatically.
Steps to grant recording permissions to participants
- Click the Participants icon when you are the Zoom meeting host.
- Click More next to the name of the participant you wish to give recording rights to in the participants menu.
- Select "Allow Record."
- A notification regarding recording privileges will be sent to the participant. The participant menu will show a recording icon next to the participant's name while they are recording.
- Click More next to the participant's name, then select Forbid Record to stop them from recording.
- The participant will be informed that they will no longer be able to record.
Steps to change recording settings
- Open the Zoom desktop app.
- Click your profile picture and select Settings.
- Open the Recording tab.
- Adjust recording preferences as needed.
Steps to record separate audio files for each participant:
- Open Settings in the Zoom desktop app.
- Select the Recording tab.
- Enable recording a separate audio file for each participant.
Record and save your meeting:
- After processing, open the recording folder.
- Open the Audio Record folder to find individual audio files for each participant.
