Thrissur: The second edition of the Peruvanam International Village Festival will begin at Sreelakam Convention Centre in Peruvanam here on Friday. The event will be inaugurated by Leader of the Opposition VD Satheesan at 6 pm at a function attended by Santhi Mayadevi, the scenarist, as Chief Guest, among others.
Ahead of the village fest, calligraphy workshops by N Bhattathiri and children's radio workshops led by Balakrishnan Koyyal had already begun in different parts of the district, starting from January 3 and Cinema Talkies kickstarted on January 2.
This year’s Peruvanam village fest is themed around ‘letters, art, and culture’.
CPM state secretary M V Govindan will be the chief guest at the valedictory meeting.
Prominent cultural and literary figures including Girish Kasaravalli, K. Satchidanandan, Mallika Sarabhai, Sathyan Anthikad, Chef Suresh Pillai, Srishti Behl Arya, Engandiyur Chandrasekharan, Devdutt Pattanaik, Murali Tummarukudi, Adv. Jayashankar, Laxman Gaikwad, Methil Devika, Riyas Komu, and G R Indugopan will speak at different sessions of the literature festival scheduled as part of the event.
The Peruvanam International Folk Arts Festival curated by Balakrishnan Koyyal will be held as part of the village fest. Noolppavakooth from Sindhudurg and Tholpavakooth from Dharmavaram are among the major attractions of the event.
