The National Testing Agency (NTA) has declared the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 results, revealing that 12 candidates achieved a perfect 100 NTA score in the first edition of this year’s highly competitive engineering entrance examination. Among the standout performers, Rajasthan emerged as the leading state, producing three cent-percentilers, the highest representation from any single state in this session.
JEE Main, the gateway to prestigious institutions such as the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), and other centrally funded technical institutions, continues to witness intense competition.

According to the NTA’s data, the 12 candidates scoring 100 NTA score demonstrated exceptional accuracy and consistency across the paper’s sections, which typically assess Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
The NTA score, calculated through a percentile-based normalization process, reflects relative performance across multiple shifts and difficulty levels.
Rajasthan shines again
Rajasthan’s strong showing once again highlights the state’s reputation as a major coaching and preparation hub for engineering aspirants. Cities such as Kota have long been synonymous with competitive exam training, attracting students nationwide.
The presence of three perfect scorers from Rajasthan underscores the state’s continued dominance in national-level entrance tests.
Education experts note that while coaching infrastructure plays a role, student discipline, conceptual clarity, and exam temperament remain decisive factors. “Achieving a 100 NTA score is not merely about preparation volume but about precision and strategy,” said an academic mentor familiar with JEE trends.
Normalization and fairness
The NTA reiterated that the percentile normalization method ensures fairness across different exam shifts. Since JEE Main is conducted over multiple days and sessions, the NTA score system accounts for variations in difficulty, allowing candidates to be evaluated equitably.
