Directorate of Technical Education, Padmavilasom Road, Fort P.O., Thiruvananthapuram, has invited applications for admission to Diploma Programmes for Working Professionals in Polytechnic Colleges under SBTE for 2025-26 through lateral entry to the third semester.

Admissions to these Programmes are regulated on the basis of merit as assessed by giving weightage to the marks/grades obtained in the qualifying examination.

The programmes shall be of 2-year (4 semesters) duration and shall be conducted during evening hours/any flexible convenient timings in alignment with timings of industry/organization. The timing of the classes shall be as decided by the institution.

The list of polytechnic colleges, the various programmes offered, and the intake for admission at each polytechnic college for each Programmes during the academic year 2025-26 are given in Annexure – I at www.polyadmission.org/wp. There are 7 government & government-aided polytechnic colleges offering 600 seats, 3 government cost-sharing (IHRD) polytechnic colleges with 150 seats, and 6 self-financing polytechnic colleges having 233 seats.

Distribution of Govt. Seats: (i) Group A: Reservation for Differently abled (Persons with Disabilities): 5% of the seats available in each Programme (ii) Group B—Government quota seats: 25% of the seats available in each Programmes for employees working in government departments/boards/corporations/companies under state government/government-aided educational institutions/state quasi-government (iii) Group C: General Merit and Community Reservation—Remaining seats will be allotted in this category, which will be as follows. Open Merit – 50%, EWS – 10%, Community reservation – 40% [Category-wise distribution of seats in percentage is as follows: Ezhava - 9; Muslim - 8; Other Backward Hindu - 3; Latin Catholic and Anglo Indian - 3; Dheevara and related communities - 2; Viswakarma and related communities - 2; Kusavan and related communities - 1; Other Backward Christian - 1; Kudumbi - 1; Scheduled Castes - 8; Scheduled Tribes – 2].

Distribution of management seats in aided polytechnic colleges: In aided institutions, 15% of the total seats are reserved as management seats. This will be filled up by the management concerned from among the eligible applicants. The remaining 85% of seats will be filled through the Centralized Admission Process.

Distribution of management seats in self-financing colleges: Fifty percent of the total seats are reserved as management seats. The remaining 50% of seats will be filled through the Centralized Admission Process.

Eligibility: (i) Age: Applicant should have completed a minimum of 19 years as of 1.6.2025. (ii) Educational Qualifications: Applicant should have passed 10+2/equivalent examination/VHSE with mathematics, physics, and chemistry/other relevant mandatory additional courses as described in the prospectus. In the case of 2-year matric courses of NCVT/SCVT/KGCE candidates, the basic qualification of the respective NCVT/SCVT/KGCE course shall be a pass in 10th standard (matric course). They will be considered for admission to any branch of engineering and technology.

Professionals working in Government departments/registered industries/organizations (central/state)/private limited companies/public limited companies/MSMEs/educational institutions recognized by the government/boards (state/central) whose workplace or place of residence is within a 75 km radial distance from the institute are only eligible to apply.

Experience: Applicant should have a minimum of one year of full-time/regular working experience. Professional experience shall be the experience gained by the candidates after attaining the required qualification in government departments/registered industry/organizations (central/state)/private limited companies/public limited companies/MSMEs/educational institutions recognized by the government/boards (state/central). Professional experience of self-employed persons shall be considered with the condition that they should have completed one year in entrepreneurship and the registration certificate of the respective firm shall be produced. Technical experience in the relevant field shall be given preference.

Application: Applications can be submitted online at www.polyadmission.org/wp after one-time registration, which is mandatory for all candidates. Registration may be done by paying a fee of Rs. 400/-. After that, the candidate will be able to log in through Candidate Login, available on the home screen. After login, a separate application should be submitted to (i) programmes in government/government-aided/IHRD/CAPE/government seats in self-financing programs (ii management quota seats in aided/self-financing institutions).

Those seeking admission for management seats in aided/self-financing programmes in aided polytechnic colleges and management seats in self-financing polytechnic colleges shall submit separate applications online for each institution of their choice through the link ‘Applications for Management Quota Seat.’

The last date for one-time registration fee remittance and online submission of application is 21.6.2025.
