Government of Karnataka’s Fiscal Policy Institute (FPI) invites applications for Research Fellow & Associate positions. Apply before July 12, 2025.

Office of the Director, Fiscal Policy Institute, Government of Karnataka, has invited applications to the posts of Research Fellows (RF) and Research Associates (RA) on contract basis at the institute.
The key objectives of the FPI are to provide training to officers of Government of Karnataka in fiscal policy issues and operations, providing systematic support relating to Public Financial Management (PFM) with a focus on state, national and local bodies' finances. Further, FPI is also engaged in research and consultancy in relevant fields.
Job requirements: The Research Fellows / Research Associates will undertake research / field studies as decided by FPI.
They will also support for training activities and gender/child budget preparation, if required.
The selected candidates inter - alia are required to compile and manage data, prepare documents, involve in writing reports, engage in statistical analysis, co- ordinate training activities, development of finance modules etc.
The job may also require travelling outside Bengaluru.
Eligibility
Research Fellow: Applicant should hold a post graduate degree in Economics in any area of specialization/Business Management/Commerce/Statistics/Information Technology/ Human Resources/ Public Administration/ Development Studies/Population Studies/ Public Policy/ Agricultural Economics or Statistics with a minimum aggregate 60% marks or equivalent grade from any University/ Institution recognized by UGC.
Applicant should have Ph.D. or should be pursuing Ph.D. and should have obtained permanent registration from any recognized university.
Applicant should have research experience of at least 2 years. Years of experience for pursuing Ph.D are considered for minimum years of research experience.
Those having experience in using computers, especially in MS Office and statistical software packages used in social sciences like e-Views, STATA, SPSS etc., shall be preferred.
Applicants who have teaching experience and proficiency in data analysis techniques shall be preferred.
Publications in areas of specialization in referred journals shall be preferred.
Preference shall be given to candidates having specialization and research interests in specific areas in which FPT undertakes Research/ Training/ Consultancy like Taxation (GST and Excise), Expenditure, Debt and Liabilities Management, Fiscal Decentralization, Audit and Accounts and Project Management as detailed in Annexure-1 to the Notification.
Other things being equal, candidates having command over Kannada language (reading, writing and speaking) shall be preferred.
Age of the candidates should not exceed 40 years on the date of announcement of the notification (13.6.2025).
Research Associates: Applicant should hold a post graduate degree in Economics in any area of specialization/Business Management/Commerce/Statistics/Information Technology/ Human Resources/ Public Administration/ Development Studies/Population Studies/ Public Policy/Agricultural Economics or Statistics with a minimum aggregate 55% marks or equivalent grade from any University/ Institution recognized by UGC.
Applicants who have published research papers in recognised journals shall be preferred.
Other things being equal, candidates having command over Kannada language (reading, writing and speaking) shall be preferred.
Age of the candidates should not exceed 40 years on the date of announcement of the notification (13.6.2025).
Tenure
The initial appointment of RF/RA is for 2 years which shall be extendable for another 2 years on annual basis, based upon performance evaluation subject to a maximum tenure of 4 years.
Remuneration
The Research Fellow/Research Associate will be paid a consolidated remuneration, which would be determined based on the experience/qualification.

Short - listed eligible candidates would be called for a written test and interview at:
FPI office, Kengeri Post, Bengaluru-Mysore Road, Kengeri, Near Panchamukhi Ganapathi Temple, Bengaluru-560060.
The short-listed candidates will be intimated by e-mail for the selection process.
The written test and interview shall be conducted by physical/online/hybrid modes depending on the periodic regulatory and advisory guidelines on Covid-19 by Government of Karnataka.
